Clara Karger

Clara is serves as press secretary to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Prior to that, Clara led strategic communications for Central City Association, an organization that works to enhance Downtown Los Angeles’ vibrancy and increase opportunity in the region. Clara is a graduate of the Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs. She traces her interest in public policy and systems change to her former roles in education, where she proudly served as an elementary school classroom teacher before implementing a schoolwide literacy intervention program in St. Louis Public Schools. Clara volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate with CASA LA and previously served on the Downtown Women’s Center’s Communications and Policy Committee.
